Fayette County Board of Education members serve four-year terms and they determine districtwide policies, priorities, direction, and spending for Fayette County Public Schools.

They develop policy for the schools, help create long-range plans and programs for the district as well as hire the superintendent and gives annual evaluation reports. They also set local tax rates and oversee the spending of district funds. School Board Districts are different than Council districts, and only districts 1, 3, and 5 are up for election this year.
